Chic City Condo

Boston, MA

All of the Function, None of the Distraction

A gut renovation in Boston, this “Chic City Condo” has a design that invisibly incorporates multiple technologies into a compact residence. Keypads and iPads mounted on the walls simplify control of lighting and shading without the need for banks of switches or multiple remotes. TVs on lifts are hidden until they ascend out of a cabinet in the living room or descend from the ceiling in the master bedroom. Invisible architectural speakers play music throughout the home without interfering with the clean planes of the ceiling.

Schematic drawings are an important step early in the technology design process. The schematic drawing shows the location of technology infrastructure throughout the condo, including networking, audio / video, and launchport docks for iPads. Components of each system are placed on the plans and a preliminary budget is developed.

We designed each layer of technology on this project and determined how they would be integrated into the architecture of the space.
